A still life is a set of one to multiple objects, where a student is creating an entire composition filling the paper. Students will learn the parts of shading and how to use 7 values in their works to create dimension. The list of parts of shading are: highlight, light, shade, core of shadow, reflected light and cast shadow. All of these parts are to be incorporated into their artwork. Practice is done on the backside of the worksheet and the final work should be done on 12″ x 18″ (or larger) drawing paper. Keys to a realistic drawing. 1. Draw and shade exactly what you SEE, nothing more, nothing less. 2. Use directional shading. Follow the form of the object you are shading. Curved lines for rounded objects and straight lines for flat objects. 3. NO OUTLINES!! Edges should be created where two values meet. Blocking In |
